SAT
The SAT, originally called the Scholastic Aptitude Test or Scholastic Assessment Test, s owned and developed by the College Board, a private non-profit organisation in the United States. It is administrated by the Educational Testing Service. It is widely used for US college admissions. SAT measures literacy, numeracy and writing skills that are required to succeed academically in college. It has been known that the test assesses the ability of the test takers in analysing and solving problems.
However, the test is administrated under a short duration to help provide a wide range of scores. The test comes in 3 sections: Evidence Based Reading & Writing, Math and an Optional Essay.
Reading Test
This section is made up of 52 questions and have to be completed within the duration of 65 minutes. While it is based on reading passages, all questions are given in multiple choice. SAT Reading passages are based on 3 main fields: science, history and social studies.
Writing & Language Test
This section is made up of 44 multiple choice questions and have to completed within the duration on 35 minutes. Mathematics
This section is taken in 2 portions: Math Test – Calculator and Math Test – No Calculator. The test is taken in a duration of 80 mins and includes 58 questions: 45 MCQ and 13 grid-in questions. The topics that are frequently tested are:
- Heart of Algebra (linear equations, system of linear equations and linear functions)
- Problem Solving & Data Analysis (statistics, modelling and problem-solving)
- Passport to Advanced Math (non-linear expressions, radicals, exponentials)
SAT is offered 4 to 5 times in Singapore, in the month of March, May, October and December. The test dates are typically scheduled on the 1st or 2nd Saturday of the month. GMAT
Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer adaptive test that assess candidates’ skills such as analytical, writing, verbal and quantitative skills in English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as MBA. These skills are believed to be essential in the real-world business and management success. The test is administrated by the Graduate Management Admission Council.
GMAT exam consists of 4 different sections:
